Damn Foolishness.
I got this “forward” in my email from Seven this morning. Apparently NBC had a poll where they asked if the words “IN God We Trust” should be kept on the American money and if the word “God” should be kept in the Pledge of Allegiance. They had the highest number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the results were like this :
86% to keep the words, “In God We Trust” on the money and to keep the word “God” in the Pledge of Allegiance
14% against
That is an interresting public response, isn’t it? I wouldn’t have gambled that so many Americans would have voted to keep God on the money and in the Pledge.
I was asked to send this email on if I agreed or to delete if I didn’ t.
So what do you think I did? Why, I deleted the email, of course! Now, that doesn’t mean that I disagreed with the 86% of Americans! The thing is, I don’t live there! It don’t really concern me. Me nuh have no talk inna dat discussion. If you want my opinion on it, I think even having the debate with the naysayers is silly! Whoever feels strongly against having those words in the pledge and on the money can just fuck off! They are free to go live elsewhere! Blasted wutliss people who just a nyengeh-nyengeh in people ears! Cho!

Well … aside from everything else, abandoning everything the forefathers taught us and put in place for us all (and I don’t mean only Americans here now) is …. well, Stephen King put it best in a recurring phrase in his Dark Tower series … it is “forgetting the face of our fathers”
Regardless of what one believes, on cannot go around changing and destroying the foundation … it’s where we come from, it’s what makes us who we are today and it’s what forms the base for what we currently have - freedom of speech being one of them.
Of course the 18% are stupid … but it’s a short-sighted stupid … a stupid that helps us understand why the global society is going to hell in a handbasket.

They brought that up again? There was a big debate on it some time ago. It’s so strange that there’s such a big hoopla about this, when historically, America had such a strong Christian/religious foundation. Their Constitution was established on Scriptural principles. Now, they’ve thrown God out of the whole picture, only to remember Him in crises like 9-11 and school shootings.
Hmmm, I guess I’m a bit low on tolerance too. Blame it on PMS, lol.

Well, I have to say i did ponder this morning at your response - were you irritated by my sending this email or the content????
for me - i am not an american resident or citizen either - but i believe in GOD and i realize that the american culture has a MAJOR influence on the world we live in - thru TV, MUZIK, etc…
So whatever I can do to refocus america on that base- foundation of faith, love and “in GOD we trust” - i will do my share - because it doesn’t just impact me, wherever i live - it impacts the world, as America impacts the world - and THAT, as we all know - is RESOUNDING!!!

i’m american and don’t really care either way, but for the sake of argument i’d like to point out that “in god we trust” and “one nation under god” were not adopted until the mid-50’s in reaction to the “godless commies”. there was alot of opposition then, too.
