Asafa Seems to be of Two Minds to Me.
The bredrin needs help, I tell you! I read something on Yardflex which suggests that Asafa has rebounded well from his weird fifth place in the Olympic 100m Finals: Asafa Determined to Reclaim Record!. The words and tone suggested in that post were definitely encouraging, and indeed, his performance in the recent Athletissima Grand Prix would suggest that Asafa was indeed inspired to greater things by Bolt’s new World Record as he said, but I believe that the true picture emerges in the article that discusses this same meet in today’s Jamaica Gleaner!
In the above-linked article, Asafa told reporters, “I’ve got no idea why I’m always winning on the circuit but then finishing fifth at the Olympics. Who knows? Maybe I’m not the guy for those big championships but just the guy to compete in the Grand Prix and Golden League meetings. It’s just unfortunate.”. Note, this is not an exact quote, but apparently the man did indeed utter these words to the reporters! I believe that the man is making himself accept that he cannot perform well in big meets! His management NEEDS to get the man to sit down with some good sports psychologists! It is a necessity!
On to something completely different: When I come across good things, I like to share them. I came across two posts that, in my mind, stood out above the a lot that I have read recently and I thought I would share them with oonoo, because you are my friends. Please go and check out this post (In the Teen Queen Zone) by La Toya at feministe.us, and this post (The Yard) by Mighty Afroditee, at her own blog.
Also, Yardflex has this thing they do were they post pictures of a couple of “hottie hotties” and let people vote on which one more irie. Well, in recent times, they might as well have termed this feature “Miss Least Lukewarm”, blood! Bere ordinary looking ladies they were styling as “Hottie Hotties”! Cho! Anyway, last week, they did a good job and you know Mad Bull is going to big them up for that one! Check out the “Dipsomania Hotties“! I like “A”, but would not turn back “B” still. What oonoo say?
Anyway, its getting late, I-an-I tired and all the public schools start tomorrow, so I have to leave out earlier than normal, so I gone. Peace.

Leave Asafa alone, bredrin – its all good with him.. He has had an excellent career and deserves nothing but credit.

B cuter but A look feistier.
Asafa needs help
well, asafa still young enough to conquer that stage fright. Let’s see how he goes at World Championships next yr
Much props to Asafa and all his accomplishments but twice, with a four year interval in between? Cmon! We need to stop making excuses and get him the help he so desperately needs to overcome this mental hurdle. I guess i now know how distressed and disappointed teachers and parents feel when their pupils/children refuse to perform at their full potential.
Now about those Hottie Hotties, I’ll have a serving of A please.

Did you see the 100 m today? 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th places….all black, green and yellow Jamaican flags! ‘Twas a pretty sight to behold.
No, but I heard about it. Jamaica has gone absolutely mad for track now, haven’t they?
Oh, I know they always were, but I mean, more so than normal. I don’t think they used to show all those random European Track meets on TV before the Olympics.
Yes Iya, 1234 BLACK, GREEN and GOLD!!
I think Asafa just has a mental problem or he just doesn’t have the endurance to go through the heats and then perform in the finals. I guess he has accepted defeat.

People say Asafa only runs for money. I don’t agree so much, but I do think his less than stellar performances on the big stage is a totally mental thing. I can’t come up with any other logical explanation.
The race yesterday was amazing. Mi jus’ haffi love being Jamaican. We rule.
As for the girls … tek di 2 a dem nuh? Is a hard pick from what I see.

If I were only so brave to share with you what my co – workers theory on Asafa is. But I fear someone may track me down and beat me for it. Furthermore as a fellow tracksman, I try to stay out of those conversations.
Gwan do you ting Safa! You have done eons for track in Jamaica and the development of the 100m event not just in your country but the world. You can’t please them all! Every dog has his day!
* I liked B as a GF and A as a one nighter.
