Ah Wah Dis?!

A screen scrape showing Blog Jamaica’s
re-post of my post of this morning
I just noticed that Blog Jamaica has re-posted my post from this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see that someone thought enough of my post that they would do so, but then I noticed that nowhere on their site was there anything to say where this content had originated. “But wait!”, I thought to myself. “A really steal dem steal mi post?!”.

The above was my response. Why would you post up someone else’s post without mentioning or linking them back somewhere? That is tantamount to stealing in my book! And then the blog goes under the name, “Blog Jamaica”! It gives a bad impression, IMHO.
Maybe it is just a misunderstanding and they don’t know what the proper way of doing these things is though. Hopefully they will do the right thing and either take it down or link me and say that I wrote it. We shall see.
yeah i had this issue wit them too….there is a link waaaaaaaaay down the bottom of the post that says “original article” but its too indiscreet for my liking……….
Thanks for pointing that out, Pepper. I went to their site and retracted my previous comment, but also suggested that they make the link back to the originating site be more obvious.
The beauty of being a blogger is that everything becomes another blog. I mean even an experience as bad as this becomes just another great blog subject. I’ve had creative ideas stolen and it’s quite painful at times. It’s made me a bit paranoid for instance with my songs. Even singing in the shower can be dangerous unless the material is copyrighted already.
Mad Bull, this is actually frightening, if you click the link Personal/ Motivational blogs they have “borrowed” a whole stream of your blogs and I don’t see any credit. Even if they did credit you it’s way too much to be replicating your entire blog like that without your consent or suitable compensation and credit being given.
I know the feeling.Seriously, how hard is it to credit someone’s writing?
Please give me a call at 927-3266.
I tried hitting the reply button but that
didn’t work.
i point that site out ages ago. wait until they start competing with you for page rank on google. They really no following the terms of free use of rss feeds.
Wrong, wrong, wrong….
This is the nasty side of the internet. Even though I’m super small, the principle is same…I’ll be sure to be vigilant as well about this very subject matter. Thanks for sharing this MB
