General Miscellany
I just finished reading Wilbur Smith’s “Cry Wolf”. It is a novel set in 1935 in Ethiopia. It is a story within the wider story of the Italians’ attempt to take over Ethiopia. Ethiopia’s army was much more poorly equipped and was outnumbered too, yet they managed to hold their own against the Italian Army. I had hoped to find more info about how the Ethiopians wrought their eventual victory, but unfortunately, the story ends before the end of the war. Never the less, it was an exciting and most excellent read, as indeed are all the Wilbur Smith novels that I have read. I recommend it! Two thumbs up!
Protocols… So much taken for granted, and yet… Its extremely annoying when a protocol has developed and is followed by everyone, then you come upon something which completely flouts the protocol.
Imagine the following scenario. You are driving down a road, and a vehicle in the oncoming lane wants to turn across your lane unto a side road. Here the established convention is that you blink your lights if you are going to give way… Imagine my astonishment when some asshole flashes me and then doesn’t stop! I guess by flashing me he was trying to indicate that I shouldn’t dare trying to turn as he had no intention of stopping. Luckily, I didn’t get hit but I was still annoyed… Stupid mofo!
Hey, I guess this is World Cup Eve, huh?
Yea!!!
This ‘mofo’ is simply the type of insect that we who have decided to remain here in Jamaica have to put up with. You dare not say anything or voice your anger as YOU are the one who is wrong. There is no such thing as protocol in this country, this applies in all circles, even our friggin Government Ministers pay no attention to protocol. Like I’ve said many times before, me tiyad fe preach!!!
Yes my yute, the World Cup deh yah!! What time is the kickoff? I will check u later, perhaps we can have a juice or two while we get glued to the TV.
