Woiyoi! Another Monday to RA$$…

I am a messy guy. I don’t think it can be called anything else. Natty suffers, because she says she has two kids, not one. Of course, you done know she’s exaggerating. This messiness also manifests itself at the office. I only clean up my desk when its so messy that I can’t concentrate. I am always losing things because its lost in the clutter that is my desk. Theres a good side to this… Its easier to clean up when you do get the vibe. Heres how I see it. Anything thats been on my desk like that, I figure I should be able to do without, because it would have been on my desk (and therefore out of sight) for so long already, and as long as I don’t recall missing anything important, obviously I can do without it… Into the garbage it goes.

Don’t leave yet, theres more…

This morning was a “Clean My Desk” kind of morning. The clutter was really getting to me, so I rolled up my sleeves (figuratively, of course) and dug in. I took up all the loose paper, and the already opened envelopes, and the pens, and the diskettes, and the money (change, really) that was lying around. I tore up all the loose papers and the envelopes and such things. Sort of a manual shredding process. I don’t have a trash can in my office, so I was dumping all the torn up paper in a bin belonging to another employee who wasn’t present. To get to this trash can, I had to pass the guy in the office beside me, and there were many trips… Eventually he said to me “I am going to call the cops, you know! You’d better explain why you’re shredding all those document and dumping the garbage in other people’s trash! What’re you up to? You have something to hide, eh?”. Of course, he was joking, but with all the happenings at Arthur Anderson, Enron, WorldCom, and Qwest, hey, you never know, right?

You know, theres so much that we just can’t be certain about nowadays. I heard recently that two Arabs on an American Airlines flight swapped seats while flying somewhere over the US and this was deemed so suspicious that a couple of F-16 fighters were summoned to escort the plane down. Crazy, and yet… Whats this got to do with what I was talking about earlier? Nothing, I guess, except that theres so much going on that you just don’t know what to expect anymore.

On the way to work, I noticed thousands of butterflies flying around. This happens every year. There is a certain time when they all emerge from their chrysalis together and they fly around and around, little yellow butterflies. It is pretty to see. I hear that they like to hang out by Lignum Vitae trees. The Lignum Vitae is the National Tree of Jamaica. There seem to be quite a few of them by the Terra Nova Hotel, along Upper Waterloo Road, so the whole road was inundated with the butterflies. Based on the news that the latest Stone Poll has indicated that the Jamaica Labour Party has lost some support to the People’s National Party, I bet that the Labourites wish that those butterflies were all labourites and that they had a vote. If that were the case, they would have nothing to worry about, I’m telling you! By the way, oonoo (all PNP supporters who read my site) don’t get vexed, I’d have linked the PNP website too, but it seems they can’t even keep their own website up, I got an error page when I went to whats supposed to be their site!

In other news, we seem to have won a number of medals, including two gold medals in the Commonwealth Games which are now on. We won a gold in the Decathlon. Athletes in the Decathlon are the best all round athletes anywhere, in my opinion! I think they’re awesome!

  1. Wow, your thoughts seem to be going all over the place! Seems your mind is just as messy as your desk! Oh, I forgot, you just cleaned up the garbage today! (Hush my yute, you know I’m only pulling your leg, after all, what are bredrens for?)

  2. Well, I often have many things that I want to say. I thought of splitting it up into several posts, but I changed my mind. What I was trying to do is to give the reader a mind picture of what my life is like, and of whats going on here. What people are talking about, what they’re doing, where they’re going, and so I felt that a number of my experiences would be more valuable than just one…

  3. I know only too well. There was no need to explain yourself.
