GRRRR!!!

In the last month or so, the Jamaican dollar has devalued against the U.S. dollar, moving from about J$49 to US$1 to roughly J$53 to US$1. Thats five dollars in one month! My salary is being eroded, and quite rapidly, might I add!
Needless to say, I am not amused!!!
I don’t know about anyone else, but I think some changes are in order!
that is horrible! I can certainly see why you’d not be amused. I have difficulty in believeing that our dollar is worth only 0.65 USD. I can only imagine what it feels like to have your currency drop so much so quickly.
When I lived in Germany I loved that US dollar went further ~ but I also didn’t have to rely on their economy to survive as the Germans. I can understand how this can be very disheartening, frustrating and obviously stressful. With the economy here in the US right now it is hard to believe that the USD holds much value anywhere ~ you are right something should be done for all and not just the rich!!!
Yes my yute. I only heard about the 53:1 business at work today. I knew we had passed the 51 mark, but dis shit has gone way out of line. The balls of the Jamaican populace are being squeezed, and very tightly might I add.We (the docs in the public health system) were finally granted a small increase in salary, but with devaluatioin occurring at this rate, the increase may not be able to put gas in my tank! I believe that one way to try to get around it, is to save in foreign currency accounts. Naturally, one has to have Jamaican funds to purchase the exchange in the first place. Please do not think I am trying to put you on the line and expose your financial status, far be it from my intention. That is one soultion. Another is to look a work with a better pay by far. Three, I don’t want to have to say it, but, migration, something I believe we have both discussed, is an option. I am no economist, but trust me, I don’t expect any improvement. Don’t stop the progress indeed! I guess we can rap about this in more detail when next we have a rum! Atleast that will be something to look forward to. Sigh.
I guess now would be a good time for me to visit there?
Yes, Shelli, I guess it would…
