The Donkey

Earlier, I wrote about my shock, no, let us say my dismay at the fact that my co-workers abandoned me in the building when an earthquake struck this morning. Shortly after, I received an email from a friend, and it struck a chord within me. When they abandoned me, I felt like this donkey:

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway. It just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey so he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw.

As every shovel of dirt hit his back, the donkey did something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed, as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.

The Moral: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!

So, I guessed that I should have tried to find a good moral in this… I sat and thought and thought about it… Nothing doing… I prayed about it but God decided to keep silent… … …

Aw-ight, that’s enough B.S. The story continues…

The donkey later came back, caught the farmer out in the field and kicked the shit out of him. Then he went over to each of his neighbors’ farms and kicked the shit out of them too for helping!

Now theres a story that ends well! What a good thing I wore my steel toed safety boots today! “Ohhh, fellow co-workers! I’ve got a little gift for y’all to let you know the esteem in which I hold you…

  1. HA!!!! Nice story

I don’t know much about earthquakes since we just have the tornato’s and such around us. I read from Natty that it was a 3.5, but my therory is this, if I need to feel the earth move there are other places and “positions” I’d rather be and only in a “figure of speech” not actual earth moving!!!!

  2. I am truly shocked at your co-workers and managers! What a rotten way for them to act.

  3. You need to take that donkey to work, along with your steel toed boots.

But, having been through 7.6 earthquakes a couple of times; I probably wouldn’t have even noticed that the building shook.
3 point quakes in California, are reacted to, like a truck passing by.

    Still.
Your co-worker’s should be dealt with.

  4. Actually, we stayed on the building because it seemed kind of small… Two peple in the room didn’t even notice it. We did get left behind, but I am not really mad… more concerned in case a bigger one comes up.

  5. Well, that is the whole point. You would not have known if it was going to intensify. Anyway, you aren’t annoyed. BTW, have you told your co- workers how you feel about their actions? Do any of them read this site? I feel THEY should know how you feel about their actions. Again, just my very humble opinion, you are free to act in any way you consider it fit.
