Mi Still Deh ‘Bout

Yeah yeah! I know I didn’t chat with you last night, but I was not up to it, you simi? But I haven’t given up on blogging like a certain person I know… Man, I am still in shock over that! Anyway, I wish him all the best…

So, I have these two friends. One is my age (we’ll call him Youthman) and the other is sixty five (lets call him Sixty Five). So, ever since Youthman was in university, he has been in love with this lady, we’ll call her Nardia. I don’t blame him, she was really nice to look at and she had a champion Bumper! Unfortunately for Youthman, Nardia fell in love with a young, flashy doctor, however. Youthman probably still loves her. He was crushed when they got married.

Sixty Five had occasion to meet Nardia when Hurricane Gilbert struck Jamaica back in 1987. Sixty Five’s daughter was seeing this man who lived on the same hill that Nardia did, only further up the road. Sixty Five had tried to call the young man but couldn’t get in touch with him, so he decided to drive up to the young man’s house to see if he was alright. I volunteered to go along for the drive.

A huge tree had fallen across the road in the vicinity of Nardia’s house, and the road was impassable. Nardia was out in the road when we drove up, and because she knew me, and her car was on the other side of the tree, she offered to drive Sixty Five and I up to the young man’s house. He proved to be fine. Apparently Sixty Five was struck by Nardia’s beauty, though he said nothing to me…

(* fast forward to present *)

Sixty Five had a heart attack recently. I went to visit him today. He told me that Youthman came by to visit him earlier today, and how he had him in stitches laughing at some rude jokes.

In the course of our chat, he also told me that one of his doctors was going to be Dr. XYZ (Nardia’s husband). I told him that the doctor was the husband of the girl who had driven us up to the young man’s house. He said “What?!”. He then went on to tell me that he had seen her on a number of occasions all over the place, and how nice she was, and that Dr. XYZ “had a really “nice” wife, man!”.

He went on to say “Its a good thing I didn’t make a play for her, huh? You can imagine how her husband would just kill me on the operating table?”.
I replied “Its a good thing you never told Youthman that. He’d probably have killed you too! He’s been in love with her like, forever!”.

Its interesting… Two of my friends, attracted to the same woman, but with that big age difference between them. Nardia is a real hot number, man! And her bumper still rocks! Anyway, if that discusson is anything to go by, Sixty Five will live for a good while yet… Sounds like there is a lot of life left in him…
