Very Interesting!

Check this out! A British Virgin Isands policeman used his service pistol to shoot a man who his girl friend / former girl friend was “associating” with, and apparently London’s Privy Council has ordered the BVI government to pay damages for negligence by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force!

I didn’t know that the Government would be held responsible for something like that! I would have thought that the policeman would just have been locked up for a long, long time! Negligence by the BVI police…

It is difficult to imagine that the Gov’t. would be held responsible for an incident where a jealous man attempts to kill his particular “Joe Grine”!

Just the other day here in Jamaica, a policewoman killed the woman her husband was giving her “bun” with. I know she was arrested and tried for it. I believe she was found guilty too… I wonder if the dead woman’s family can now file a suit against the Gov’t. here… after all, a precedent has been set! I’m not so sure I agree with this one though…

  1. Sounds a bit absurd to me!?

  2. Not that i am any legal beagle, but i think that Ja. is not governed by the British Privy council because it is an independent country. No longer a british colony.

So precidence does not carry over to Jamaica in this instance.

  3. Actually, we do currently make use of the Legislative Committee of the Privy Council. They are currently our highest court of appeal. The Gov’t. is trying their best to change that as I write this, however…
