Smith’s Cove and More
I had mentioned in an earlier post that I planned to go there, but we didn’t make it until Thursday. Yessir, we finally made it to Smith Cove! Its a nice quiet spot, a bit of sand between two outcroppings of rocks which project out into the sea. Quite nice, although there did seem to be a bit of an undertow. We had good fun still!
If you click on that itty bitty l’l picture above, you’ll see a bigger picture that you can actually make out stuff in. The trees there look a bit straggly, but thats because of Ivan’s wrath. There just so happens to be more to this story…
I hear Smith Cove is an irie place for lovers of snorkelling! One of these days, when I go there with another enthusiast, I’ll venture out and snorkel the reef by Smith’s Cove. I don’t snorkel much by myself, as I prefer to offer the sharks a good choice of food rather than to just offer up myself only, you done know!
Anyway, while we were there, Natty added another man to her list of admirers. One bredda from who looked as though he had been there in the hot sun drinking Heinekens from early o’clock was staring at her intently, and after awhile, he approached her and told her that she reminded him of an ex-girlfriend. Once he came over, we simply could not shake the bastard, and eventually we just “locked up shop” and flashed. (packed up our stuff and left)
Before we left, the Brazillean bredda told us that he went to Smith’s Cove fairly regularly. Natty told me later in the car that maybe we shouldn’t go back because of that, but I pointed out that we could easily just drive up and survey the beach and see if he was there. If so, we could just draw reverse and head for another beach. “Ah nuh nuttin!”, I said. She agreed, which was good, because I-an-I wah go back there again, you nuh seet!
Thursday, Westar TV had a crew up in my neighbourhood fixing some people’s cable. I was so excited!
Unfortunately we weren’t on their job list then, and up to today I still haven’t seen them but they told me that they will be in this area working until tomorrow, so we shall see. I hope they still come, bwoy, because that would mean TV for Natty, MBJr. and an internet connection for I-an-I!
Guess what? Friday was Natty’s birthday! I didn’t forget her birthday, but I did forget to post about it. Don’t feel left out though, oonoo can still wish her happy belated birthday in the comments, zeen!?
Last night, we had dinner at the Canton Restaurant and then we played Kalooki with the DSS Doc and Shoma. The DSS Doc won, I came second. The man basically dus’ me out in the second to last game!
Oh well, a so it go sometime!
Hey, check out this pile of mashed up cars, crushed up by Ivan. I came across this scene up by Bodden Town, an area which was hit for six by the hurricane. Plenty plenty destruction up there, at least to the properties nearest to the beach. The cars may not have been piled one upon the other like that by the storm, but in the cleanup efforts I guess they just piled them up in one spot for pickup by the clean up crews. Click on that picture too for a look at a bigger picture. Anyway, inna di latahs.

careful with that undertow. that does look like a good chill spot. i want to go to cayman sooo badly. i wonder how much it would cost from jamaica to go there.
OK, so I mus give the Natts a belated birthday call…see whappen when you people dem flash from yard and migrate…. Serious ‘ting like birthdays where nuff food, lika and camraderie woulda share get forgotten! Happy Belated Burfday Natty.
The cove looks nice, but a bit small. I guess because of its size it get pack up well quick on weekends/holidays. A in de week move should be nice when the time is available.
You doh need fe fret ’bout nuh shark eating you…animals tend to have an instinctual way to recognize, sniff out and aviod anyting weh poisonous!
Hope you get the net connection soon and I guess you lucky seh your vehicle dem never end up inna nuh junkyard heap!
