Much Ado About Jah Cure
There is some interesting debate going on over by B.art & Life, here and here.
The posts are about Jah Cure, and also, the woman who claims he raped her, who told her side of the story here. The comments are written by people who believe Jah Cure is innocent of the crime and by those who believe he wasn’t innocent, and some of them get a bit nasty, using the age old tactic of trying to cow down those who disagree with them. I believe that people use this tactic when they don’t have a strong argument, but its a bit foolish, IMHO. You don’t win an argument just because you cuss badword better than the other people who are a part of said argument!
I have read Jah Cure’s side of the story before, can’t bother to google it now to link it (you are free to do so if the spirit moves you though), but basically, the rude bwoy says it wasn’t him, he wasn’t even there, it was a case of mistaken identity. I nuh know, still, I wasn’t there.
The woman who was raped has come forward to say that it was him, and she knows it was him because she recognised his voice, she just couldn’t forget it! In her own words:
“I was able to identifiy him (Jah Cure) because his voice was distinct. They kept talking in the vehicle. Anywhere I hear that voice, I will always remember it. During the incident he tried to kiss me and I could smell the ganja scent on his breath,” said Suzanne.Prior to the incident, she said she had never seen, met or spoken with Jah Cure. She noted that she did not even know who he was until after he was arrested.”.
Well, I believe that she believes Jah Cure was the rapist, but I am not sure that she is right. In fact, based on the advice I heard from a judge on a couple of murder trials that I served as a juror on, I don’t think that she told the court that she believed Jah Cure was the rapist based only on his voice! That sounds like very weak evidence to me.
Note: I am not saying that I believe that Jah Cure is innocent! She may be right, after all! All I am saying is that I question her accuracy when she says she knows it was him by his voice alone, especially since she had never heard his voice before, nor did she know him nor had she seen him before.
Basically, it seems like they locked up a man, called her in to identify him and she heard him talk and said “Is him!”. Come to think of it, that does mesh quite well with what I remember of Jah Cure’s story, actually!
Anyway, innocent or guilty, I am not convinced. Perhaps we will never know the truth, like so many other things in life. As I said about the man the first time I blogged about him, “I know that jurys don’t always come to the right conclusion re a defendant’s guilt still, and so I am hoping that the rude bwoy didn’t commit the crime!”.
In some of the comments at B.art’s blog, B.art revealed to me why she said in a comment on a previous post I had written that she didn’t like the design of my blog. She doesn’t like the white text on blue background I employ for my posts and she especially doesn’t like the red links. She also doesn’t like my fonts. (I hate my font size under Firefox and Mozilla too, so B.art seems to be on to something! Now I am giving some thought to making some changes, but what do the rest of you feel about it? I’m trying to be democratic. Who like it and who doh like it? Let me know in the comments please.
something wrong with me then because I like your blog design I like that it is different I wish I could design my own blog like this.
I agree with what you say about juries I was on jury duty once and a lady wanted to convict the guy because he was from laventille and as she said everybody from that area bad we all had a big fight about it until we all agree that that was not a reason to convict someone the evidence has to be there and there wasn’t enough.
Sorry for the log post.
Amelia (and others who have the same worry) I love all comments, the longer the better. Thanks for your vote on the design as well.
Re the Jah Cure part of the post, it just occurred to me that the girl mentioned that she memorised the license plate number of the car. If the police picked him up based on her reporting the license plate number, then to me it makes her story more believable. After all, they picked up the guy in the car, she comes in and says that “yes, she remembers that voice”. It is more believable.
The only questions then would be whether she was coached to remember that license number so as to make her story more believable or not, or whether it might not be possible that Jah Cure got into that car after the crime was committed and then she identified him wrongly.
But her story is sounding more believable to me. I think I am going to have to try his story online again after all…
Agree with your comments about the case.
I have no issues with the colour or font here.
Hi mad Bull-I love Jah Cure’s music. I don’t know much about his history but will read later. I too have a difficult time reading your blogg due to the print against the blue background. Readable but difficult.
Thanks for the votes, Doctor D and Sunny…
Dem nuh know seh black man love color - if u c`hange, go for black green and gold y’ear!!! Bout dem hate it - dem baxide to rass!
B.art is not a boy?Yeah, the blue kinda harsh on the eye but then I semi blind
Now, now, Seven… the page is up because I want people to read it and so if some people are finding it hard to read, I should give it some consideration. I too like the bright colors, but if it gives some peopl headaches, well, maybe I should tone it down, you know…. this is good criticism, I think.
Whatever you do with font/color…you naw please everybody…that is one of the laws of humanity!
my issue is would we even be arguining about his innocence if he wasnt a entertainer? if he was sum likkle no talent bwoy from the street an dem arrest him an say his voice soun like the rapist ya wun hear nuh lotta long talk. he wudda had ta tek he years like a man. but Jah Cure is big entertainer now so we suspicious just like how wid de Kobe thing we suspect the so called victim.
not saying both men not innocent but just that if it was a no name fella nobody wun give a shite. dem wud have to juss deal wid the punishment
