Newsflash!
You know that the Jamaica Tourist Board spends millions on advertising. The Cayman Islands Tourism Association does too, undoubtedly. Each of them works hard to tell you how great a time you can have by visiting Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, and trust me, its true! Still, in one or two cases, you can better of by not putting a foot on their shores!
Check this out! A young Spring Breaker went on a cruise that visited Jamaica and Cayman before returning to Florida… the guy never left the ship at any of the ports of call, and now he is US$1,000,000 richer! “Wow WOW!!!”, as Babycham would say! Did I mention that Babycham will be performing in a concert here tonight? Well, yessir, he will be here, telling us his “Survival Story”. I may well go to the concert, we shall see…)
Anyway, back to this springbreaker… yes, apparently he did very well in a poker tournament he took part in while aboard the ship. He played everyday for 5 to 8 hours a day with money trumped up by 8 of his friends and he won, bigtime! Phew! Lucky ra$$! What would you do with a million bucks? Bwoy, that is fodder for such nice daydreams!
Anyway, apparently you can be better off by not coming to these islands, but for the vast majority of people, shyte like that never happens! Sorry to bust your bubble! If you know whats good for you, when you have the opportunity to come to Jamaica or Cayman Islands, or to any of the Caribbean islands for that matter, you should! There is more…
We have the riddim to move ya! The best diving! Spectacular beaches! Wonderful vistas of lush forests, rivers and streams! Beautiful mountains! Powerful ganja! Irie, beautiful, exotic women! (cheap too!) Oh, and there are men for you ladies who’re interested as well! (The rent-a-dread phenomenon is not a phenomenon any longer. There are plenty of them around and they are in several of the Caribbean islands too, I saw a post by Titilayo to that effect.) There is something for everybody! Come to the Caribbean and feel alright! Hey, some of us Caribbean people may not think much of everything the tourists do while they are here but as long as they are spending up some big dollars, a nuh nutten! Everybody haffi(has to) eat a food. Money is the root of all evil, but it is still a necessity after all.
Ok, having thrown in that advertisement of sorts, let me just get on with the rest of my post. Have you all been noticing that everyday there is a news item on this bird flu thing? It really does seem to be spreading, doesn’t it! See here, a dead falcon was found in Hong Kong with it, and I recently read of a woman dying from bird flu in Egypt. It does seem to be establishing itself in Europe too, and we get tourists and ex-pats from Europe all the time! Its just a matter of time before this bird flu wings its way to our neck of the woods, don’t you think? And what about us here in little Cayman? We have so many wild chickens round and about in everybody’s yard! If it spreads to the chickens, it may well spread like wildfire to the human population here too!
It may be that the time is fast approaching for a major culling of these wild chickens! I know members of the Humane Society may shudder, but if the choice is between me and mine and some fool-fool chickens, nuff nuff chickens a go dead! Awoah!
Seriously though, I wonder what plans our various governments have been making about this bird flu business? If they haven’t begun to make some serious plans about this thing, well, they must have their heads planted really deeply up their asses! It is time that our governments start sharing with us their plans for tackling this menace on the horizon! If you, my readers, are feeling me, do something about it! Chat to other people about the issue, get others to agree with this point of view… if we have a lot of people interested in it and talking about it, it will get back to our various governments and they will have to do something about it, even if all they can do is to tell us they can’t afford to do one ra$$ thing about it!
At least then we’ll know…
Anyway, on that gloomy note let me wish oonoo a good weekend still! Go out and have fun to the max, people! You do know the age-old saying, “Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may die!”.
A bredrin of ours recently won upwards of $5G US in a poker game (after investing a mere $800)…..he was in the company of anodda bredrin who was saying…”Yow rude bwoy, time for us to flash with the winnings while the going is good!” (I totally agree). No, he decided to reinvest! Well, hear wha…him get phuck! Lose all o it to ra$$!! Of course, the odda bredrin well vex wid him. I told him that I would have taken my $2,500 and parted company. Indeed, its not the same as winning a mill, but you haffi well careful with them casinos on cruise ships and hotels. Is not everybody lucky like the tourist you write ’bout.
I agree wid wid you…wipe out de wild fowl dem!
If I win 200 dollars I playing it safe…better than losing 200.00 nuh true?
Wah! I know what I would do with US$1000000!!!
Dis damn bird flu ting is scary!!!
Lucky bastard! Not really afraid of bird flu though. I’ll get scared once it hits the States.
