La Tortura
First of all, respect is due to the man Desmond Dekker still. He died yesterday out of the blue from a heart attack! The man was big still, and he had nuff songs that we Jamaicans grew up hearing and loving. Perhaps my favourites of his songs were “Shanty Town” and “You Can Get It If You Really Want”. I see that they were saying on MSN.com that he was the real pioneer who paved a way for all other Jamaican musicians to a world audience. He was the first Jamaican to have a top 10 single in both Britain and the United States… Big up, Broddah Desmond! Do your thing in the Lord’s Choir, zeen! Mek the other singers up there know say a Yardie run tings, here there and everywhere!
Bwoy, I couldn’t build up the vibe to post anything yesterday… I had a very “INTERESTING” day @werk, let me tell you… The script that stops and restarts one of our enterprise applications stopped working properly on Thursday night/Friday morning and not for the life of me could we figure it out! We managed to cobble it together so that users could use the application Friday morning, but when the operator took the application down for the nightly production run, it stopped working altogether and I couldn’t get it restarted.
Now, if you’ve been reading here recently you will recall that I have a couple of consultants from India at my disposal! Given the fact that the West Indies won the One Day Int’l Series yesterday and the fact that I would probably have needled them to death over that fact, you might think that they would be pissed at me now and that they might refuse to help me out now though, huh? But no, I had been so busy on Friday @werk that I didn’t even realise the score until after they had left work, so they escaped the ribbing and I escaped their wrath! God is good to his people, eeeh? 
Big ups go out to the West Indies for the series win! Looking for great things in the test matches, my boyz! 
Anyways, I called up the consultant and he struggled with the script for awhile too, but the script proved to be the winner of both prize fights last night! He couldn’t get that bastard of a script working either…
Around 11:00pm, I suggested that we do a reboot of the system. He accepted the offer thankfully. I rebooted and Hey Presto!!!, just like that the script worked! It went from being a spitting, scratching hellcat to being this nice pretty cute little kitty, just purring nicely as I stroked it.
And this was a UNIX application, people, not Windoze! I can’t believe it got on bad so! 
Anyway, the whole ordeal was just torture! I need to take my mind off all that, and what better to do so with than some torture of another kind!

Do yo thing, mami! Shakira is quite hot, isn’t she? She can put you into a certain frame of mind… Whew! Heh! After watching that, I think I will have to ask M’Buthelezi to watch MBJr. for the morning so that I can put Natty under some exquisite torture herself! 
Later fi dat though… Bwoy, today the black man feelin’ to party. Yes rasta, today the black man does feel to get on bad! I wonder what I cam get up to today, sah? Hmmm… Dunno what is going on but I feel to go ah street. On top of that, I think a break from work is due! It will soon be time to take off a week or so and fly off the rock for a change of scene… Hey, if you all had the money and could go anywhere you wanted to for a vacation, where would you go? New York? London? Paris? Munich? Me, I think I would go to South Africa! I have read so many of Wilbur Smith’s books, I just feel a hankering to go check South Africa out! Never mind that the place is just as violent as back home in Jamaica, I would go take a prips down there just the same! I think it would be a lot of fun. Since the funds not running though, maybe I would have to just settle for another Caribbean island or a Latin American country instead. I would want to check out a place where the people don’t speak English too much though, just so that it doesn’t seem like I am still at home. Where should I go? Columbia? Cuba? The Dominican Republic? Honduras? What do you all say? Which would you pick?
Ra$$! Work just called me… They are having another issue. Cho! Anyway, I better go fix it. Me gone!

Owen, Australia would be an interesting spot to visit as well, I agree. Natty actually has an uncle there and I have a cousin there also, so maybe one day…
Kami, Natty is deeply against going to Cuba and giving US dollars over to the communist regime there, so she refuses to go. At least, that is the reason she says that we are not to go…
One day I will tell her we are going to Miami and the plane will land in Havana though…. heh heh heh…
Leon, I don’t know if he wrote one of them, but apparently he sang them. I actually thought that Jimmy Cliff sang the “You can get it if you really want”. He apparently wrote it, but Desmond Dekker sang it, according to the article. I am sure Jimmy has sung it too, but maybe he just does that on stage, maybe he didn’t record it… or maybe he has his own version of it recorded as well, I don’t know… I do like the song though.
Sir Charles, I am not sure why, but Paris is not a destination that excites me. If you buy me the ticket, then yes, I will go.
think i would like to see some other caribbean islands, really besides barbados i’ve never been anywhere else in the caribbean. saw another blogger throw up some photos of dominica that looking mighty interesting
outside the caribbean i think i’ve always wanted to go someplace with lots of ancient ruins and the like like mexico or egypt

Jdid, I went to Mexico once! My parents took me when I was about ten. Nice place. The pyramids were awesome, also the ruins of the Mayan city. They are relatively near to Mexico City, so thats where you have to go to… a nuh nutten, ’cause Mexico City was pretty nice too. Go check it out if you wanna…
