When People Naw Talk

This was what I nearly posted yesterday :

Today is Natty’s birthday. Fortunately, she loved her presents. Unfortunately, she is trying to sidestep a migraine. It has not sunk its claws in properly, but it is lurking around. Thats not a good thing, not being 100% on your birthday… nevertheless, we shall be making the best of it. smily

We go off to brunch shortly, we have a couple of nice movies in the house and then we will wing it from there…

Happy Birthday, Natty!!!

MBJr. and I wish for you a most excellent day, and may you have many happy returns!

I thought I would shelve the post until I found something more to add to it, but I never did get back to it.

We did go to the brunch (that was pretty decent!), then we came back home and watched “Superman Returns“. We did more stuff, but nothing worthy of comment. Back to Superman for a bit! What a show long, rasta? Wasn’t bad though… Tell me something. If you were like Superman and had an alter persona (Clark Kent), how would you feel about Lois Lane being in love with one side of you, and being completely disdainful of the other? I think I would resent that she didn’t like my “Clark Kent” side at all, because undoubtedly Clark is a big part of Superman’s psyche. He is not just a persona adopted as a disguise, but rather, he displays many aspects of Superman’s character. In a way, the Superman persona is more of a public facade than is Clark Kent. Thats my opinion anyway. If I were Superman, I’d put on some of the agony on Lois, (and boy, how I’d put it on! That would be known as the “Super Agony!” ;) ).

I wouldn’t consider Lois Lane for a permanent relationship though, because I think that the way she treats Clark shows that she isn’t such a nice person. Plus, look at how she give her live-in lover Richard a “jacket” (she has fooled him into believing that Superman’s baby is his own).

People, recently it has been in the news that someone was going to sell Peter Tosh’s M-16 guitar on E-Bay. Next, the sons came out decrying the whole thing, saying that the guitar went missing after his death, how the guitar really belongs to them and how it should be on display in a Jamaican music museum.

This view seems to have held much sway, so much so that I heard a radio personality over here in the Cayman Islands siding with the sons and even going so far as to suggest that whoever had the guitar now had perhaps come by the guitar by unfair means.

Seems that the sons argument swayed the people who were arranging the sale, so now the sale is off, but guess what?! The guitar was being sold on behalf of Peter Tosh’s common-law wife.

You see what happens when people naw talk? Anyway, the whole incident brought out the story of Peter’s M-16 guitar, which is an interesting little anecdote all by itself. I never even knew that Peter Tosh had an M-16 guitar. Click on the links and read about it nuh? Notice that all my links are to Yardflex? I wonder if this story made the Jamaican newspapers at all. Also, try to live lovin’ with your family and near family, seen? Life is too short to get hook up in too much family quarrel.

Finally, I watched the football game (on Fox Soccer Channel)between the Reggae GirlZ and Mexico last night. The Reggae GirlZ lost, 3-0, and thus will not be playing in the World Cup. Poor girls, they played like shit in the first half but they looked pretty decent in the second half! Unfortunately they failed to score. I think Jamaica can do well in the women’s soccer thing in the future, but what they need to do is to start girls playing football in primary school, and also, persuade them to play it in high school too! Thats whenre the GirlZ suffered last night! They looked like there were relatively new to this football thing! Oftentimes, they looked as though they did not know exactly what to do when they had the ball in the final third of their opponents side of the football field. Anyway, nuff respect to the GirlZ still, they were tops in the Caribbean and they went to the finals of the Gold Cup!

Congrats to the U.S., Canada and Mexico, who came first, second and third respectively.

  9. The M-16 story made today’s Caymanian Compass.

  10. I didn’t know Lois did that to the guy? I really need to see that movie. Happy belated birthday Natty. I think the Reggae girls were cheated out by that referee. They couldn’t make a move without him calling it.

  11. Happy belated Natty!!!!

Lois Lane, nevah checked for her either. Shallow hussy. Also thnk Superman is a wuss. Tiyad of all those super villains.

  12. AAAHHHH What cake did Natty get?

Peter Tosh should have a celebration day. I rate him — I’ll blog about that and that guitar does belong in a JA museum.

  13. Hope the migraines didnt spoil your day ,Natty.

Sean Paul is quite boring live so that should explain it

  14. Happy Belated Birthday Natty. Hush about the migraine to. I can totally relate.

Haven’t seen Superman Returns as of yet but will soon soon soon.

I hope the sons get the guitar back. It is sad what happened. It should be with the family.

  15. Belated Birthday hailup to a fellow(what’s the female of fellow anyway?) Sagittaurians.

Pity about the migraine, I suffer from them too.

  16. Just went back and read the saga of the guitar. It’s sad though. I feel bad for Marlene Brown.

The fact is a common-law wife is not regarded the same way as a ‘proper’ wife. So as far as the sons and the world is concerned, anything that Marlene has that previously belonged to Peter should be given to the ‘rightful’ family. If she was married to him, it wouldn’t be like that though.

I would have discussed it with the sons before arranging the auction if I was in her shoes though.
