The Mad Bull’s Blog, Version 3

Last night, I watched a movie (The Guardian, starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher - a decent watch, IMHO), had a couple rum punches and then fell asleep on the couch. I woke up around 4:00am and have been online since… so much for internet avoidance! Still, what can you do between 4:00am and 8:00am when everybody else is asleep besides surf the net? Whats that? Sleep? Cho man! Thats what I had just been doing! That would have been boring!

Anyway, I was quite idle. Eventually I decided to go to Youtube and watch some videos. I decided to select the videos I was going to watch by theme, i.e. I thought I would put in a word as a search term and then watch the first video that came up for that word. I also decided to share these movies with you.

My first word was Jamaica. Click on the word to see the first movie that appeared on Youtube when I used ‘Jamaica’ as the search term. Personally, I think taht the movie which appears for Jamaica is an excellent one. It markets the island quite well! Makes me want to visit right now, in fact!

I then said to myself, “Self, Jamaica is irie fi true, but you now live in Grand Cayman!”, and so I used ‘Grand Cayman’ as my second search term. The movie that came up for Grand Cayman was also a decent choice… it was about something that never strays far from anyone’s lips over here.

I then decided to use the names of all my ’stomping grounds’ as search terms. Next up therefore was Miami. That movie was a logical choce as well! It speaks to the allure of Miami… to its metrapolitan nature and to the excitement that is on tap over there very well.

Once I had put ‘Miami’ up, I thought about it. Whenever I went to Florida, I didn’t really stay in Miami, I stayed either in Fort Lauderdale or in Tampa, and so off I went to check both those places out. The Fort Lauderdale movie is all right. I am not so sure it really gets down to the essence of Fort Lauderdale though. The Tampa movie, while an interesting watch, didn’t really represent Tampa at all though, at least as far as I was concerned.

Having sussed out all these movies, I decided to write one PHP page to display them for you, which I would load in a popup window, and off I went writing the code for that page. Quick, easy and also fun, that was.

There you have it! Thats how I spent last night and this morning. Yeah, I know I said I was going to watch the Lionesses play football, but apparently they did NOT have a game last night! Afro, if you read this, please give me a schedule of when you ladies are playing? I know I said I was going to stay off the internet too, but if I stay off for the rest of the day, then I will applaud myself for having done well anyway.
