Likkle Labrishing…

Blurtsqueet! I could hardly wake up this morning, even though I went to bed early (for me, anyway! Somewhere around 10:30 - 11:00pm). Thank God for coffee, bwoy!

It has been an interesting weekend though, and I managed to get a couple of things done that were in a pending state so it was a productive one as well. You wanna know what I have been doing?

I have been renting the first series of the HBO show, “Rome”, and Natty and I have been watching it. That has been fun so far! Man, that Titus Pullo reminds me of Forrest Gump! Remember Forrest Gump? Just a normal, run of the mill guy, but sort’ve mega dumb, and yet he met at least two presidents, he caused Nixon to be impeached, he made millions on Apple Stock, he met Elvis Presley, he was an American Football star in college, etc., etc., etc…. Titus Pullo is a similar character, except he isn’t portrayed as dumb…. he is more seen as your normal, ordinary guy, but sort’ve carefree. Also he can fight like hell. On top of that, he caused the Republic of Rome to fall, he sired the child that helped Cleopatra to ascend to the throne of Egypt, he (and Vorenus) captured the gold that Pompey’s men stole, he (and Vorenus) found Caesar’s standard… as Caesar said, the gods are definitely friends of Pullo and Vorenus. Very interesting little series, what!

Apart from Rome, I also finally linked up with my sistren who wanted Oracle 9i installed on Fedora Core Linux, and it is now happily running along… Actually, it could have been up and running MONTHS ago, its just that I didn’t read the instructions fully! Word to the wise, always read the instructions, and sometimes you need to read them through carefully before even starting to follow them. There were several points where error messages are thrown up on the screen and you go off to Google and start to comb the ‘Net for solutions, but the solutions were all in the instructions! Every last one!

I may well buy a little server class PC and install Linux and Oracle and then do the Oracle Certification myself, we shall see. That sounds like a good plan to me! Just need to scrape together a few shekels.

I also was trying to get a certain effect with some graphics for a website and I finally got that worked out too. On top of that, I got Natty helping me with it and now she seems to be interested in building websites and graphics and such delights! Thats a good thing, I think. Its nice when you and your loved ones share more interests, but it might also lead to a long queue for Compi. Can anyone say “New Laptop required!”? :)

I took Natty, MBJr. and M’Buthelezi to the Portofino Restaurant in East End. It has such great ambiance, but to tell you the truth, I wasn’t that impressed with the food. Quite expensive and it didn’t taste all that great at all! I wonder if I can get up a couple of partners and we try to buy the guy who owns it out? I am sure we could do a better job with the food, and I don’t know jack about cooking! (My potential partners do though!) Perhaps we could make a go of it… hmmm? Actually, thats just an idle thought… just something that flew through my mind and will never happen… unless it does, know what I mean? Heh heh heh heh…. ;)

Hey, this is directed towards Doctor D: Doc., what have you done with the Acura again? I will be coming through Yard in July and if you still have the Acura and it is in good running order, maybe I will use it and lef’ a likkle money with you. What do you think of that idea? I am going to need a vehicle for sure, because I will be back and forth all over the country, if I have my druthers…

Anyway, its getting towards 0700 hours and work is looming large on the horizon, so I better prepare to do battle with it. TTYL, seen?

  1. You’ll need to look elsewhere….the Integra was sold oer eight weeks ago my yute. I know someone who rents cars…. if you’re interested, I can make an enquiry for you. You will need to let me know when you will be here….

  2. I’ve said this before Rome is the SHIZNITZ!

  3. That reading of instructions FULLY gets me from time to time…. We tend to reach a point and say Yes we can handle it from here cause we are sooo l33t. Then wonder why it not working properly, when it could have ALL been avoided if we READ the instruction fully.

Rome is nice… Titus and Vorenus is one WICKED team!! You watch Season 2 already?

  4. I never really did take to any of the HBO series.. I would probably like them if I took time to watch them. I think we need a 30hour day :p

on reading the instructions.. sounds like you learnt your lesson MB. I now read release notes, change logs,.. the works. It pays off in the end.

  5. Food never taste’s nice when it’s expensive!

  6. Like Adrian I tend to stay far from the HBO series. Can’t ever seem to find the time to keep up with them.
