So Much Trouble In The World…
I took MBJr. to see “The Simpsons Movie” last night. It was pretty good, actually. It got quite a few laughs out of me. Yeah, I know that a lot of people will say that the Simpsons is not really the stuff that young kids should be watching, and I guess that you might be right, but if you talk to your kid, I think you will be able to impart to them what is “over the top” behaviour and what is not, and watching that movie won’t make too much difference to that. Of course, I might be wrong….
Anyway, the movie was quite entertaining. Sometimes I marvel at the minds of the people who come up with stories like that, filled with so much jokes and interesting little sub stories and ideas all interwoven into the overall plot. They are geniuses, IMHO. (is that right? Geniuses? Hmmm…) I wish I could do that!
Anyway, one of the main themes of the story was the destruction we humans are wreaking upon the environment. Of course, Homer is one of the guilty parties and indeed, it is he who lays on the “final straw”. How he gets himself, Marge, Bart and the rest of the kids and indeed Springfield out of the problem is what the show is about, and its pretty funny, and I recommend that you go see it… unless you don’t want to.
Even if you elect not to go, do give some thought to the environment, and to what can be done to reverse the current trends where that is concerned because that is some important shyte right there! Do you want to see something scary? Well then, follow this link and look at “The Worlds Endangered Destinations“. Click through and look at all the pictures and then tell me you aren’t even a little bit scared.
What has me worried is if the world’s leaders will take this thing seriously enough to do something about it before its too late? Do you think they will? If you are a praying person, well, I think its a topic well worth discussion with the Lord. Make it a part of your nightly prayers, you hear, because I like the Earth, and I’d like it to be how it is now, or rather, how it was some years back, before all this recession of glaciers and rising sea levels and totally crazy storms and so on and so on… 
Take it to the Lord in prayer and see if something can’t happen to fix things… I hope that will work. Of course, if you have more concrete remedies, feel free to expound at length on them in the comments too.

Pay attention - just read today that Pepsi admiited that their Aquafina water label was nothing but filtered tap water… did you know that??? All of a sudden, a rare diagnosis of autism has become 1 in 150 kids!!!!
Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with our environment!!! Disease is spreading at an alarming rate, cancer: heart disease, - the primary causes of death are growing daily - and we are learning daily how the impact of HUMANS VS. THE ENVIRONMENT is playing a role in that….

I found the Aquafina admission amusing. Am always asking people at home in SVG how we know that the bottled water here is not just the same tap water in a nice bottle
I was coming in here to post on the 11th hour but I see that that has already been taken care of already.
A lot of people knock MTV and say it’s filled with garbage but they do a lot in terms of educating young adults about the state of the environment which I think is the key to change. They had a program last year where Cameron Diaz went to explore some endangered places in the world and took a lot of celebrities which was brilliant.
I think people are now more aware of the state of the environment than they were say 2 years ago but the bottom line is cost. Until eco-friendly products can be bought for the same price as non eco-friendly products, many people will not be motivated to do anything. Some people just don’t suscribe to the “savings over time” philosophy.

@ Kami - I was so shocked by this admission by pepsi - only to learn that most bottled water is merely filtered tap water!!! Unless the label specifically says “processed by reverse osmosis”, these companies have basically run the tap water through a Brita!!!!
Now that’s messed up!!! Do you know how much money is made in the sale of bottled water worldwide, and the mass fear spread at the thought of possibly drinking tap water??? Why is this not a huge scandal??? Or is it that i am the only sucker??? Hmmmmm
