Sean KIIINGSTONNNNNNN!

Ok, this is a draft from a couple of months back, when they were playing some Sean Kingston music non-fucken-stop pon de radio! It is to be read more as a statement of disgust at the radio stations than as an attack on Sean. Sir Sean, big up still, no disrespect, but I still say that those lyrics in “Take You There” are kind of fool-fool.

Ok, so is it just me, or are we hearing just a bit too much of Sean Kingston? I mean, shit, man! He is coming through my speakers plenty, plenty, plenty!!! Now I-man not really hatin’ still… him awright, de bredrin have a li’l ting a gwaan fe him, but backside! Him really coming thru my speakers plenty, rasta! Is it really warranted? Me nuh know… me nuh think so! Cho!

And what you all think of “Take You There“? Check dem lyrics yah out:

“We can go to the tropics,
Sip piña coladas,
Shorty I could take you there,
Or we can go to the slums,
Where killas get hung,
Shorty I could take you there”

So, what you think? Nuh mus’ one mad gyal dat Sean a sing ’bout? I mean, if you a check out a dawta and she want you to take her to the slum, where killers get hung…. I mean….
Well…. ok, its not impossible! Maybe some gyal want to go to the slum even if you can take them to somewhere better, but I can’t see myself with a girl like that. Rass! What kind of girl is that? What, she not sensible? If I can take you to paradise, why the rass you woulda want to go to the slum? A girl like that strange, rasta! Nuttin serious with a girl like that! If she really hot and she have you tongue ah hang out and you really can’t resist her, well do a little ting then, but afterwards put the pedal to the metal and hit the road, rasta. Tek my stupid advice. A girl like that will bring nothing but trouble!

So yeah, Sean song nuh sound bad, but the lyrics ah fuckry. Ah just so me see it. The yute want to satta (chill out) and gwaan build some good lyrics and then wheel and come again. Ah dat me say! What you think?

Okay, mek me change de pace. So a breddah call me from Jamaica. We ah talk. What we a talk ’bout? Obviously OLINT, Cash Plus and crime. Apparently OLINT and Cash Plus is the biggest chat ah yard, star! Yeh man, the banks dem ah lash out because them a feel Cash Plus and OLINT a dip inna dem pocket, and the people dem ah demonstrate against Super Plus and NCB and all kind…

Well, thats it. It wasn’t finished, and it was written some time ago, so I don’t remember what else I intended to say, but perhaps its an interesting post despite the fact that it wasn’t finished. If you want more info on OLINT and Cashplus, follow the link in the final paragraph above, it goes to a well written post by Dennis Jones on these “clubs”. Hey, that Sean Kingston picture up dehso, it bad eeh? I wish I had a picture like that of me to use as a banner… only, I would want the Jamaican flag on the left and the Cayman flag on the right. That wouldah wicked fi real!

  3. natty - u always make me go “Huh???” I agree that the lyrics to this song are ridiculous - why would i want to go to the slums? and why would it comfort or excite me that you could take me to either place? not quite sure what his message is…

as far as the banner goes, u embracing the caymanian bit a bit much for me! no dis respec’ but no flag but yaad fimi…

  4. I think that Natty is just listing some of the “nonsense” songs that were mega hits, just to shore up her point.

Re me and the Cayman flag, well, if you start to look at our family history on Dad’s side, there is Dad’s generation, then ours in Jamaica.

When you look at the family history here in Cayman, it goes back at least 4 to 5 generations and most likely even more.

There is a definite connection here, is all I’m saying. That and the fact that ah yahso me live now, and its where I will be living indefinitely, well then, I think I will hold up the two flags.

But I do respect your position as well.

  5. I agree — pyere chupidness dat! People do have great sex in the slums you know…you might not want to go, but SK don’t seem to mind…he need to sing sensible things tho’

I went to cayman when I was a child, and have missed every opportunity to go since then. my mother almost moved there; my father had a whole odder family there. I saw your pic, MB, I don’t think you are related, but you never know…its a place i find fascinating though. I will go soon for sure.

Mi’dear, you could wall paper your house wid de flag fi’ all I care (but that would be very ugly and you probably have good taste in interior decor); I don’t fly no kine a’ flag nor salute none - too much sheggery take place in the name of the flag an’ i can’t accept dat. When i feel like my country give a damn about me, then i will fly it.

BTW, what’s up with the translation stuff?

Long Bench’s last blog post..Perish the thought!

  6. @ Long Bench: Hey, I haven’t thanked you for that idea to buy some other kind of sardines and use jerk sauce on it… I tried it this morning and it was wikid!! I used a sardine which came with jalapeno peppers and when I lick it with the sauce, trust me, it tasted even better than the one they used to sell on the shelves themselves! Much thanks.

So what is your father’s family’s last name. Maybe I even know them. Do tell. If you don’t want it in the comments, just use the contact me link at the top of the page, just under my banner picture…

  7. I thought I was the only one who don’t get that song. I’m from Jamaica and I don’t wanna go to the slums!
