Busy Like a Bee!
Hey all, what up? I haven’t been able to write much here last week, I have been pretty busy in the evenings and I am kept busy at work as well, so I don’t blog from there. Why so busy in the evenings? No, I haven’t volunteered to visit the sick in GT Hospital, nor have I joined the Lions Club or any of those things! No sir, thats not it. On Monday I got a puppy, and believe me, he has been taking up a lot of my time. I am either setting up some food for him, or walking him in the garden or some such thing.
Actually, I think that I would have much more free time if Natty was the sort of woman to allow the dog to come into the house. Then I would have to spend so much time outside with him, and then he would have so much more opportunity to bond well with all the family! However, I do think that there is not much hope of this ever occurring. I hope she doesn’t complain about the dog chilling with us on the porches of the new house when we finally move in, that’s all I am saying!
So yeah, I-man get a little puppy again, at last!
Actually, I am sharing him with MBJr., who is quite thrilled with our new addition to the Bull family! It has been a win-win situation for both of us. Natty was not so gung-ho on the whole deal. See, the pup is of dubious origin. By that, I mean to say that she thought he had some pit bull in him, because he has the most beautiful light brown eyes and his nose is also a light brown color, instead of being black. Also, he is quite thick and powerful looking, especially for a puppy that is only seven weeks old! She has seen similar traits in pit bulls, and so she was somewhat apprehensive.
When I looked at the little doggie however, I thought he looked like a mix between a Labrador Retriever and a Chow Chow, in fact, his face looks exactly like this Labrador’s does! When I took him to the vet today, the vet said that she thought he was a Lab-Chow mix as well! And no, I didn’t prompt her, or ask her if she thought that was what Simba was (yes, his name is Simba). I just asked her, “What kind of dog do you think he is, Doc?”. Natty has been feeling a bit better about the whole thing since the Vet said that. Of course, we aren’t sure what else might be in him, but the dog basically looks like a Yellow Lab but with a more fluffy coat, perhaps with a body more like the Chow Chow’s and with the tail carried somewhat curled over its back. The coat doesn’t feel Labrador-ish either, but more like a Chow Chow’s does. I think it may be a bit more Chow-Chow in temperament too, but we will have to wait and see…
Why am I not sure about what kind of dog it is? Well, I have never laid eyes on his parents! You know how I came by him? I was driving out of my neighbourhood in the afternoon on Easter Sunday when I was held up in a line of about four cars, waiting on a long line of cars to pass by on the main road. I became a bit impatient as we sat there. I turned to the left to see if there was EVER going to be a break in the traffic so that the car in front of me could finally come out, and as I saw how long the line of oncoming cars was, I cursed and said, “Where the hell are they all coming from?”.
As I said that, I noticed two cars parked along the side of the road I was sitting on, waiting on a break in the traffic. I noticed that a man who was there pulled out a pretty little puppy out of his car and handed it over to a woman who had just stepped out of another car. All thoughts of the traffic flew from my mind, and I pulled over to the side of the road too. I stepped out of my car and said to the man, “Hey, you puppies for sale? I am looking for a puppy, you know!”. The man replied that he did not have any puppies, but a neighbour of his had about eleven and they were giving them away. He knew the woman he had just given the puppy to wanted a puppy, and so he took one from the neighbour and brought it for the lady. I exclaimed, “Then bring one for me too, nuh man!”.
So said, so done! The man brought the puppy for me all the way from East End on Easter Monday. He knew that it was born in early February and that the mother would reach about the height of my knee if measured at her shoulder, and thats about it. He didn’t know what kind of dog the mother is, he had no idea at all of what the father looked like or what type of dog it was, or anything.
I think he will grow into a very nice dog, however! Hopefully he doesn’t fall victim to Parvovirus, like Spunky did. Please, God! MBJr. would be so cut up! I would be too, but then, I am guarding my heart somewhat, just in case!
I will post some pictures of him tomorrow, I think. Look out for them.
Hey, yow! You know what was interesting in the news over here! The top three guys in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service have been sent on “required leave” while some kind of investigation (they call it enquiries) is launched! All kinds of rumours are abounding, of course. I will let you all know what is going on as details come out.
Tuesday I moved from the office building I have been located in for awhile now into a brand new office building! It has a great view of the harbour in George Town, as well as along Seven Mile Beach and of George Town itself. Look out for pictures of the view from my new office soon as well. The pictures will be shot through the plate glass walls of my office building, so expect a little dirt from rain spotting on the glass, tinting of the glass, etc.
What else do I have to tell you? Oh, I am going to watch the Cayman Islands National Football Team take on Bermuda in a World Cup Qualification match tomorrow! Go Turtles, or whatever name they affectionately apply to the team here!
Also, Wordpress Version 2.5 is out! With that, me ah go lef’ you! I am going to upgrade my blog now, then I am going to give the puppy his last meal of the day, and the n I am going to watch “I am Legend“. Oonoo take it easy nuh?
hahahaha Turtles?

MB — you really sound like you really enjoy your family life. Good for you - I get warm fuzzies reading the posts! So, if I hevva fi’n out sey you screwing around on your wife without her permission, I will come to Cayman and fix yuh bizness good! Mi serious as a judge!
Now, about the dogs, I never could become attached to dogs. Not after my childhood dog Sheba — yes, a jamaican dog for sure - started to eat her puppies and then we had to put her to sleep.
All that tuff man talk about guarding your heart is really nonsense. You see how you excited about the puppy now? You will surely bawl like a baby - the way we all do - when the animal that we somehow thought was just an animal but was really a friend and family member, dies. And then you’ll get another one and start all over. The one thing that will keep us going is that we are not afraid to love. That includes many-legged critters.

RIP Spunky. He was a cute dog. Wanna see this pup you’re speaking so much about. As for a puppy in the house, a woman will always be a woman.
