M-Day

Well, today is D-Day! Or perhaps M-Day would be a better name, you know, “Move Day”. Today, we move out of the house here in Northward where we have been living for the past four years. Tonight, I will be sleeping in George Town for the first time! I guess I am now a “Townah”, eh? (correctly spelled, “Towner”, a nickname for people who hail from the district of George Town. They have nicknames for people of the different districts over here in the Cayman Islands. If you’re from West Bay, you are a Bayer, if you’re from East End, you’re an East Ender, if you’re from Cayman Brac, you’re a Bracah (Brac’er), and so forth.)

Anyway, my “Townah” status is supposed to be short lived. Soon I will return to the Bodden Town District. At least, I hope so. I hope the contractor isn’t chatting a lot of fart!
I am going to be up in Bodden Town regularly as well, as I plan to check Simba very regularly! Yeah, unfortunately I have to leave Simba with a friend here until I return triumphantly to Northward!

We simply don’t have room for a puppy where we’re going, its just a 2br / 2ba apartment. It does have a pool though, and I plan to use that regularly! Gonna live it up while I can, you done know! :)
See, there are both good and bad things associated with this move.

Hey people, Ubuntu 8.04 is here. As I sit and wait for the movers to arrive, I am downloading the CD files. Depending on how the move goes, I will amuse myself either tonight or tomorrow night by installing it. You guys should try it too, we can have fun comparing notes. :)

This weekend, there is going to be a big show, with Byron Lee & the Dragonnaires, Machel Montano and Xstatik, and others. Of course, I already have tickets for Natty and myself. Now if I can just convince M’Buthelezi to babysit MBJr., everything will be lined up for a PARTAY! I will tell you all how that goes. Anyway, I am going to run. I am sitting here typing this in my boxers and the helper soon come (yeah, we get a helper now to rahtid!) and she might take a dim view of me greeting her in this attire, so me gone to get ready for the arduous workday ahead of me.

Peace out, mah peeps!

  5. Re “Townah”
Some people really like their place Names:

Residents of the Greek island of Lesbos launched a legal action yesterday against a homosexual group, insisting that only islanders had the right to call themselves lesbians.

The inhabitants of the island said they were attempting to ban the Greek Gay and Lesbian Union (Olke) from bearing the name “lesbian”.

Residents of Lesbos now suffer “psychological and moral rape” from the “seizure” of their island’s name by gays, according to the complaint by Dimitris Lambrou, a local activist. He has set out his argument in “The Misfortune of Being Lesbian”, published on his website.

Mr Lambrou, who has the support of a member of a nationalist pagan association, said that the case was likely to come before a court in Athens in June.

  13. What’s that sound? Crickets…

That’s not a good sign. It means that either:

    1. The computer didn’t survive (uh oh).
    2. There’s no internet in the apartment (you must be kidding).
    3. Natty has him under heavy manners (LOL sahf bwoy).

P.S. Ubuntu 8.04 is quite good! I’m looking forward to comparing it with the upcoming openSuse 11.0 due to drop in a month.

  14. Hope the move went well. I feel it for Simba. He’s gonna miss you guys, although it’s just for a while.

  15. Hi all! :) I’m back!

I finally got an internet connection! Yeah man, Digicel and Weststar were out of modems, can you believe it? Crazy stuff! Anyway, one of these providers has finally set me up, can you guess which it was?

@ Jamaican Dawta: We have driven up everyday to walk him in the evening, every day except Sunday, that is. I went to a friend’s house to watch Lost instead, on Sunday.

@ Say Wah : The computer has most definitely survived. You’re right though, no connection, and Natty has me under manners. Haven’t had a chance to look at the Ubuntu yet, un fortunately.

@ Jdid, well, I know I will be moving again in short order. After this next move, who knows.

@ Leon, Esteban, Cool Destiny and Dr. D: Thanks for your kind wises, gentlemen and lady! The move wasn’t fun, but we did it! :)

    @ Kami: You’re probably right!

@ 7: Love you plenty too, pretty sister! Oh and Happy Belated Birthday! Oh, and remember what I said about the Miniature Schnauzer!

@ Ian : Very interesting stuff, sir!
